Very few people know about the vision of en(reach)ing lives and the mission of en(reach)ing jar. Among them who don’t know what we’re doing here is my Pastor.

And I’m overwhelmed to receive a text message from him yesterday which read:

We may give without charity but we cannot be charitable without giving… you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs (Deut 15:8)… And freely help others!

The text message reminded me of the promises I made when I wrote the first post for en(reach)ing lives. I have been very busy with the new job, training for marathon, juggling between family and friends. They can be very demanding and extremely consuming. And when hectic hovers long enough in the real world, I spent less time on the blogosphere.

So the text message meant a great deal. Because it prompted this update.

Before my phone beeped to indicate the arrival of a new text message yesterday, I was looking at the charitable deals on Groupon Malaysia. And I have decided to contribute when time permits, but yesterday was too overwhelming.

But this morning, I woke up way earlier so that I could spare an extra 15 minutes to browse Good Samaritan Home and complete the transaction.

en(reach)ing lives humbly informs fellow readers and followers that we have contributed RM10 to Good Samaritan Home which will be used for the children’s education.

To many, RM10 may be a dinner meal, but RM10 for these children mean:

• School allowance for 2-3 days
• Meal for a day
• A book

In line with the mission of en(reach)ing jar, we are so blessed to be able to contribute to the 30-Hour Famine Fund.

Groupon Malaysia is collaborating with World Vision Malaysia where 100% of donations go directly to World Vision 30-Hour Famine Fund. At RM10 per donation, donations can help provide for health, nutrition and development projects in Malaysia and other countries such as China, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Vietnam and communities impacted by disasters.

Did you know that in Malaysia, RM10 is equivalent to 1.25kg of ikan kembung (mackerel) or half a chicken or 500g of ikan bilis (anchovy)? And in Asia, RM10 can provide a family of five with nutritious food for at least 1 day a week. That is one day out of seven days! Can you imagine?

That’s why, even our smallest gesture of kindness today will certainly make a BIG difference on their table. While some of us pick out our dinner from an abundant of choice, these families do with what little they have. While some of us decide on whether to have fried fish or steamed fish or baked fish, these families can only dream of the luxury of serving fish for dinner.

So to start the ball rolling, we have contributed RM20 from the en(reach)ing jar fund. And we hope that you will take a moment to appreciate your good fortune and grant the same for these deserving families too.
